Lyall Cameron transfer: Winner named in Rangers and Aberdeen battle, deal agreed

Rangers have signed Dundee’s talented midfielder Lyall Cameron on a pre-contract, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reported via its website [3 February] that the Gers have beaten Aberdeen to the 22-year-old’s signature, who will move to Ibrox once his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Having already made over a century of performances for Dundee, notching 27 goals and 12 assists in that time, Cameron was a rather sought-after player, and the Light Blues have now won the race.

Cameron looks to be one of the most talented young midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, joining the likes of Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron – another exciting Scottish star.

Philippe Clement is still continuing to rebuild the squad at Ibrox, having taken over a complete mess from Michael Beale, and he finally seems to be getting the right players in.

There is no denying just how talented Cameron is, having already become such a key player at Dens Park at such a young age, and the Light Blues have used all their pull to bring him to Ibrox.

While the Gers have been struggling in the league, sitting 10 points behind their Old Firm rivals Celtic, Clement’s side are still thriving in Europe and have a chance of lifting the Scottish Cup.

The Light Blues’ midfielder is especially stacked this season, with Nico Raskin owning the middle of the park since returning from a long-term injury, but there is no reason why he cannot force his way into the lineup.

Of course, supporters will need to wait until the summer for the player to become a Light Blue, but it is an extremely exciting signing on a pre-contract given the amount of interest in him.

It will provide more competition for Diomande and Barron, who are both fighting for a spot in the Rangers XI this season.
