Rangers could collapse if they make Ianis Hagi decision in next 24 hours
Rangers must not let Ianis Hagi leave before Deadline Day at any cost, following his immense performance against Ross County.
The Romanian ran the show in the 4-0 win at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon (2 February), with two goals and a supreme display going forward from midfield.
Hagi has been largely positive since returning from the contractual stand-off which threatened to plague his Rangers career and is now the subject of intense transfer interest from Italian side Genoa (La Gazzetta dello Sport, 1 February).
The Serie A outfit’s president, Dan Sucu, is a compatriot of Hagi’s and has been a long-time admirer, with the Italian transfer window slamming shut at midnight on Monday night (3 February) – an hour after the Scottish and English deadlines.
Rangers cannot be tempted to sell Ianis Hagi
Having been stuck on 99 Rangers appearances for a ridiculously long period, the issue between Hagi and the hierarchy was finally resolved in his contract to reintroduce him to Philippe Clement’s plans.
During this time, an exit was highly likely in the approaching window – the current window as it is now – while he was constantly proving himself to be embarrassingly clear of the ‘B’ team competition in which he was maintaining march sharpness.
Hagi reviving his Gers career is good for Scottish football overall, as one of the leading technicians in the Premiership, and the only member of Clement’s squad to have featured in the knockout stages of Euro 2024 last summer.

To lose him to Serie A may or may not be positive for his career, but would be a devastating blow for Rangers. His contract runs until the summer of 2026 which puts the Ibrox outfit in a precarious position, and fans will hope for a resolution soon.
Hagi has three goals and six assists for club and country so far this season and hopefully maintains a sense of belonging at Ibrox. If his loan spell with Alaves last campaign was anything to go by, a return to the continent may not be the best idea for his future after all.
