Rangers breathe sigh of relief as Valcav Cerny news emerges

Rangers fans can breathe one heck of a sigh of relief following the latest state of play on loan star Vaclav Cerny.

Wolfsburg have decided not to truncate any of their outgoing loan players’ deals early (Scottish Sun, 1 February) and with the winter transfer window soon to end, Cerny will remain in a blue shirt until the end of the campaign as planned.

The 27-year-old has put in a positive shift since arriving at Ibrox from the Bundesliga, registering 20 goal contributions including 13 strikes of his own.

Cerny is set to be available for purchase this summer, but would require Gers to fork out a sum of £6.75million which appears unlikely.

Rangers will keep Vaclav Cerny for the season

For the most part, Cerny has been received very well by Rangers supporters, and it will come as excellent news that his parent club have not decided to intervene early.

The winger is a constant threat both in league action and in Europe, and has been a significant part of helping Philippe Clement’s side reach the last 16 of the Europa League.

Thursday’s individual display in the vital win over Union Saint-Gilloise (30 January) was lauded by fans who complained when Clement withdrew him after 63 minutes.

Every player in a Rangers shirt has dipped in form at some stage this season but Cerny appears to be putting in some solid performances and should be wrapped up at all costs.

It would be a significant statement in the summer if the hierarchy at Ibrox decided to go one step further and splash out to make the deal a permanent one.
