Rangers agree loan exit as defender announcement confirmed
Adam Devine has joined Queens Park on loan from Rangers for the remainder of the campaign.
Rangers announced via X (1 February) that the 21-year-old has joined the Scottish Championship side for the rest of the season.
The defender has made just 11 senior appearances at Ibrox and spent the second half of last season on loan at Motherwell suggesting he is not in Philippe Clement’s plans.
Adam Devine leaves Rangers on loan
It’s not a surprise to see Devine leave Ibrox on a loan deal, with his contract expiring at the end of the season too.
Although the 21-year-old got his first team debut in 2022, opportunities since then have been limited and moving away gives him the opportunity of regular minutes going forward.
The defender being out of contract soon suggests that the Rangers boss isn’t holding out much hope for his future at Ibrox, with this the last time he will likely be seen at Auchenhowie.
It had been reported (The Daily Mail, 9 January) that Birmingham City were interested in striking a cheap deal to sign the Gers defender so the fact he has gone out on loan suggests this interest wore off.
It’s unlikely Devine will be able to do enough away from Glasgow to save his Light Blues career. However, he can certainly make an impact on what comes next in his path.
