Ianis Hagi transfer: Rangers exit on cards as president sets new strategy
Genoa president Dan Sucu is still eyeing up a late transfer to sign Ianis Hagi from Rangers, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper reports in its print edition (1 February, page 30) that the club president has been interested in the 26-year-old for some time and views him as a cornerstone of his Romanian operation.
Although nothing has yet materialised, the interest remains with only hours left before the 3 February transfer deadline.
Ianis Hagi wanted by Genoa
Despite previously being exiled by Philippe Clement in the Rangers squad, Hagi has been able to revive his career for the Light Blues and is now in good form for his side.
However, with the Gers having a tough season, reports of the attacker informing his agents that he wants to make a move back to Italy [Pescurt, 25 January] doesn’t come as a massive surprise.
There are differing reports over whether a new contract has been offered to keep Hagi at Ibrox which could represent a lack of desire to make an effort to keep him in the Scottish Premiership.

It certainly feels as though the attacker would leave a gap in Clemenet’s side if a departure was sanctioned now after making 16 appearances across all competitions, contributing towards seven goals.
With just days left of the transfer window, it will be interesting to see how Rangers play this one as the boss would surely want some form of replacement if he let Hagi go.
In other Rangers news, Gordon Dalziel was stunned by what Si Ferry asked about a “surprise” transfer update at Ibrox.
