Todd Cantwell sends three-word message as Rangers finalise forward transfer

Todd Cantwell has sent a message to Rabbi Matondo after he completed a switch from Rangers to Hannover on Thursday.

The Wales international completed a switch to the 2. Bundesliga on 30 January, departing on a loan deal until the end of the season.

This doesn’t come as a surprise after making just eight appearances for the Gers this season and it is fair to say his former teammate Cantwell wants to see him succeed away from Ibrox.

Reacting to the news on Instagram (30 January), he said: “Let him cook.”

The 24-year-old has had some positive moments for the Light Blues, none more so than his screamer in the Old Firm against Celtic last season.

Frustratingly, these moments were few and far between throughout his career in Govan and as a result, a loan move away seems to make sense.

Moving temporarily to the second tier of Germany could allow him to get more minutes under his belt before a return to Ibrox at the end of the season.

This could prove to be the boost that the Welshman needs after his spell with the Gers began to go stale under Philippe Clement as he also dealt with multiple injury concerns.

Now the Light Blues fans will be keeping on eye on Matondo’s progress at Hannover, as it seems his old teammate Cantwell will be.

The Englishman is a good example of leaving Govan and finding his feet in another league, performing well for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.
