Rangers transfer: Philippe Clement makes Ibrox exit admission ahead of deadline
Rangers are not expecting any more players to leave in the winter transfer window, Philippe Clement says.
The Belgian manager has revealed that while it’s still possible that people might depart Ibrox in the coming days, it isn’t anticipated anymore.
Clement also disclosed that Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell left the Glaswegian outfit as they were on big wages and weren’t playing enough.
Speaking to Sky Sports (31 January), the 50-year-old head coach said: “Not anymore [expect players to leave]. It can be that people still leave.
“Kieran and Rabbi were not playing much and had good wages, contracts out of the past, not the same contracts that the club can give any more to new players.
“So that’s also one of the reasons that they could go and that they could be replaced by younger players or by new players who can step into the building. That’s the way Rangers need to go for the moment.”
Rangers don’t need more exits after Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell transfer
The Light Blues are slowly balancing their squad by selling unwanted players and including more youngsters in their squad.
Clement has relied on youth in recent months after a poor start to the season saw them open up a massive gap with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
The Bears have relied on the likes of Hamza Igamane and Nicolas Raskin as they have put in better performances of late.
Rangers also look to give more minutes to their academy prospects, with Bailey Rice, Findlay Curtis and Zak Lovelance all making appearances recently.

Nils Koppen has also done well with the exits of young players on loan to various Scottish Championship outfits in the ongoing transfer window.
What the Ibrox faithful might take issue with is the fact that there haven’t been many incomings despite the apparent need for reinforcements.
The Gers have been dealing with an injury crisis in defence and only signed Rafael Fernandes to bolster their ranks.
With John Souttar and James Tavernier now back, it feels like defensive concerns will be secondary for the Light Blues ahead of the 3 February deadline.
While there have already been several departures, Tom Lawrence should also evidently look for pastured news.
In other Rangers news, enquiries have been made for Ridvan Yilmaz in a fresh transfer update.
