Cyriel Dessers transfer: Rangers to sell in ‘offer they can’t refuse’
Rangers will only sell Cyriel Dessers in the winter transfer window if they get a big offer for him, Tam McManus says.
The PLZ Soccer pundit believes the Gers will not sell the Nigerian striker unless they receive an offer they can’t refuse.
McManus feels the 30-year-old will be an important player for the Light Blues until the end of the season.
Speaking on PLZ Soccer (31 January), the 43-year-old said: “I don’t think they’ll sell him [Dessers] in this window now. When you look at the time between now and end of the window, he’s in the team, he’s scoring goals.
“I don’t think you can afford to take Dessers’ goals out of the team at the minute. You’ve still got the Scottish Cup to play for. You’re in Europe. Unless it’s an offer that Rangers can’t refuse for a 30-year-old striker.”
Rangers have clear Cyriel Dessers transfer decision at Ibrox
Dessers has had a mixed campaign so far, with fans at Ibrox booing the centre-forward recently.
The Nigerian ace has found game time hard to come by ever since Hamza Igamane’s emergence in the starting lineup.
As a result of the Moroccan youngster’s rise in recent months, supporters have felt now is the right time to sell the 30-year-old number nine.
Rangers seem to be looking towards the future with the inclusion of more younger players in Philippe Clement’s plans in the second half of the season.

Dessers will undoubtedly want to look for a move if he isn’t the first name of the teamsheet at the Gers, but it would seemingly be prudent for them to keep a hold of him for now.
The veteran centre-forward has been in electric form for the Light Blues, scoring against Manchester United in the 2-1 Europa League loss at Old Trafford on 23 January.
With Danilo on the sidelines, the Nigerian striker has stepped up to the plate and delivered consistent goals in the last few fixtures, highlighting his importance in the squad.
Any plans to sell the 30-year-old should be held off until the summer.
In other Rangers news, Clement has made an admission about more outgoings before 3 February.
