Alan Brazil makes Rangers jibe after what happened with Celtic
Alan Brazil has dubbed the Europa League as the “Mickey Mouse” of continental competition after what he was made to read out on talkSPORT as Rangers finished in the top eight.
The Gers managed to sneak themselves into eighth position in the Europa League table after beating Union Saint-Gilloise 2-1 on Thursday.
Other results also had to go their way of course but the Gers more than proved themselves when it came to crunch time.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (31 January, 09:07am), Brazil shared his thoughts on the Gers’ progression after what he was made to read out by talkSPORT producers, taking a thinly veiled jibe at the Ibrox club.
“Ollie [talkSPORT producer], I’m getting the hump with you here, let me just read it out to you, which is just ridiculous ‘Clement there as his side managed to do what Celtic couldn’t do, straight to the last 16’, Brazil said.
“They’re two different cups, we’re in the big one you tube, we’re not in the Mickey Mouse one, honestly!”
Rangers did themselves proud in the Europa League
There’s no denying that the 2024/25 season has been a tough one for Rangers fans to stomach.
They currently find themselves miles off of first-placed Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and to make matters worse, they were also defeated by Brendan Rodgers’ men on penalties in the Scottish League Cup final.
However, their form in the Europa League since the start of the season has been a sight to behold with Philippe Clement’s men putting up a more than impressive fight against Tottenham as well as beating the likes of Nice and FCSB.

While their achievement of finishing in the top eight isn’t something that should be looked over and forgotten about, they now need to find a way to try and replicate their European results domestically otherwise they could still end the season rather red-faced.
Only time will tell what the future has in store for Clement and his men but for now, they should be able to be proud of themselves for what they’ve managed to achieve.
