Rangers should ‘fleece Chelsea now’ after new Jefte transfer update

Rangers should fleece Chelsea whilst they have the chance amid ongoing interest in Jefte.

The Premier League club are said to lead the race for the 21-year-old defender before the end of the winter transfer window (Chris Jack).

Philippe Clement has already responded to those rumours, claiming that Ibrox is the best place for his development only months after arriving.

However, the Light Blues should take advantage of the Stamford Bridge side’s interest and secure a hefty profit on their emerging star.

Rangers need to sell to catch Celtic

It is not a nice reality for supporters but the Gers may need to sell the likes of Jefte and Hamza Igamane to eventually catch up to Celtic.

Clement’s side are currently ten points behind their arch-rivals in the Scottish Premiership and the Hoops have just spent nearly £9 million to bring Jota back to Celtic Park.

Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott argued on 29 January that the Govan side needs to secure a profit on their young assets to reinvest and repeat the model to bring success in the long term.

It will not be a quick process by any means but it could eventually be very profitable on and off the pitch.

This is a bitter pill but in the end, the fans will realise that it is what is best for the club after years of mismanagement yet again off the pitch.

The Light Blues should try to get as much as they can out of Chelsea for Jefte and begin the transition, the quicker they do, the quicker they should catch Brendan Rodgers’ side.

In other Rangers news, Monday could prove a decisive day for Cyriel Dessers’ future at Ibrox.
