Rangers ‘on verge of Hamza Igamane exit’ as Everton details emerge

Everton are “one step” away from signing Rangers forward Hamza Igamane, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian news outlet reported on Wednesday (29 January) that the Moroccan has been identified as the perfect replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a move to Goodison Park nears.

Transfer journalist Graeme Bailey (27 January) named Igamane as “one to watch” in the closing days of the winter market, and the Premier League outfit are now prepared to strike a deal.

Everton scouts have been regular attendees at Ibrox this season to monitor the forward’s development [TBR Football] and after months of watching on, they could now snatch Igamane out of Ibrox with less than a week to go before the 3 February deadline.

Rangers to sell Hamza Igamane to Everton

Although Igamane has proven indispensable for Rangers this season, the Italian reports state that David Moyes has over £30million to spend on forward signings – that certainly changes things.

It is no secret that Philippe Clement must offload his fringe stars – for respectable fees – before any discussion of bolstering the squad can begin.

The Gers have had no luck in this regard throughout January, with Rabbi Matondo’s move to Coventry City collapsing at the final stages [Sky Sports] and no notable interest in any other fringe players.

Therefore, Clement and Nils Koppen must weigh up how desperate they are to strengthen the squad now and which first-team player, if any, can be considered on the chopping block to fund new signings.

West Ham, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham and Newcastle United’s interest has wavered since the initial report, but Tottenham, whom Igamane scored against in the Europa League, remain in the race [TBR Football].

Even a fraction of Everton’s reported budget should get Rangers to the negotiating table, should Spurs spark a bidding war, Clement could be looking at eye-watering fees for Igamane.

The road to bridge the gap to Celtic will be gruelling, and unfortunately, no first-team player is safe in the hopes of achieving this goal – the transfer activity at Ibrox could spark into life throughout the final days.
