Rangers news: Injured player spotted in training ahead of USG clash
Rangers defender John Souttar was spotted in training ahead of the USG clash in the Europa League.
Gers are set to take on the Belgian club on Thursday, 30 January, and Souttar, who has been missing with an injury since mid December, was seen on the training pitch.
Joshua Barrie shared an image from Wednesday, 29 January, with the Scotland international going through the motions.
Rangers likely to build up John Souttar’s fitness gradually
Given that Souttar has been sidelined with an injury since mid-December, it seems highly unlikely that he will be fit enough to start against USG.
Having been out for over a month, the recovery process typically requires a gradual return to full match fitness, particularly for a defender who needs to be in peak physical condition to handle the rigours of competitive football.
The image of him back in training is a positive sign, but realistically, the most that’s expected from him in this game is a late cameo off the bench, if at all.
Gers will likely utilise the next few weeks to carefully ramp up his match sharpness, ensuring he is fully prepared before he resumes a more substantial role in the team.
This cautious approach will help prevent any risk of re-injury and ensure his long-term availability for the squad.
Hopefully, he does not face any more setbacks in the coming weeks and can end the season injury free.
