Philippe Clement suffers crushing blow as Sky Sports reveals new Rangers exit

Philippe Clement has lost Andries Ulderink from his backroom staff at Rangers, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reported via their live transfer blog on Wednesday (29 January, 3:14 pm) that Ulderink left the Light Blues just seven months after arriving due to a “family situation”.

He has returned to the Netherlands, while the Premiership giants are set to hire Issame Charai as Clement’s new first assistant manager.

Ulderink left his role as the assistant manager at Royal Antwerp to join Rangers ahead of the 2024-25 season.

However, it appears he has been forced to return to the Netherlands already.

While the news is yet to be confirmed by the Gers, eagle-eyed fans have already noticed his absence in the dugout in recent weeks.

With Charai already said to have had a training session as part of Clement’s coaching staff, it is possible that we have seen the last of Ulderink at Auchenhowie.

The 55-year-old has, therefore, put an end to his association with Rangers just seven months after joining them.

Meanwhile, Charai started the season as a part of the coaching staff at Strasbourg and has now been lured to Glasgow.

The Belgian-Moroccan coach is set to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Light Blues [Sacha Tavolieri], which means Clement is probably not going anywhere soon.

It remains to be seen what sort of an impact Charai can make behind the scenes at Ibrox.

Clement, meanwhile, will be hopeful that he can end the season without anymore such departures.

In other Rangers news, this Gers ace is set to cost a record transfer fee amid interest from two clubs.
