Nico Raskin only Rangers player to ‘start for Celtic’ as big claim made at Ibrox
Nicolas Raskin is the only Rangers player who would start for Celtic, according to Ian McCall.
Assessing the Gers’ midfield options, Andy Halliday pointed out that the Belgian is not as good as Mohamed Diomande in breaking the lines.
However, the Motherwell midfielder went on to laud the 23-year-old’s ability to regain possession as “brilliant”.
“I really like Raskin, but he’s not really like a… he doesn’t break lines all the time, does he?”, Halliday said on the Open Goal podcast (28 January).
“He’s brilliant at winning the ball back.”
McCall, meanwhile, was full of praise for Raskin, naming him as the only Gers player he thinks would go into the Celtic line-up.
“I think Raskin is a right good player. A real good player”, he said.
“He’s the one player I think maybe could go in the Celtic team.”
Rangers to pocket hefty profit from Nicolas Raskin sale?
Hamza Igamane’s form in recent months has seen him become the most sellable asset at Ibrox, with Everton and Tottenham “big admirers” already.
However, Rangers may be able to make a hefty profit on Raskin‘s sale in the future if he continues impressing in Govan.
It is worth noting that the Light Blues paid an initial sum of £1.25million to sign the midfielder from Standard Liege in 2023 [Rangers Review].
Having established himself as a key player for the Scottish Premiership giants, Raskin’s market value will have surely gone up since his arrival.
The Light Blues’ current financial situation means that they would have to sell players on a profit to bring new ones in and continue strengthening their ranks and it would not be a surprise if Raskin is sold for the same reason.
His talent and age make him an ideal target for clubs in some of Europe’s biggest leagues and it might only be a matter of time before he seals such a transfer.
In other Rangers news, a “Monday sprint” is on the cards for this Light Blues ace.
