Hamza Igamane transfer: Rangers cling on as new careless claim emerges at Ibrox
Hamza Igamane has been “careless” for Rangers in a good way, according to Andy Halliday.
Discussing the Moroccan’s recent impact at Ibrox, the Motherwell midfielder described him as a “playground” player, while Ian McCall hailed him as “brilliant”.
Halliday went on to express his admiration for the 22-year-old and suggested that he has big things in store for him in the future, hinting at a potential transfer.
“He [Igamane] is a proper playground football player”, Halliday said on the Open Goal podcast (28 January).
“He is just careless, in a good way. He just wants to make an impact, doesn’t he? Anytime he gets it, he will try something.
“He is just the one they are kind of clinging on to now, I think he’s going to have a real chance.”
Hamza Igamane transfer race heats up at Rangers
Rangers signed Igamane from FAR Rabat in Morocco for £2.5million only seven months ago, but are already seeing Premier League clubs queue up to sign him.
Everton and Tottenham have scouted the centre-forward on multiple occasions this season, according to TEAMtalk.
Although the lure of the Premier League may be tempting, it is hard to see the Gers cash in on their star player midway through the season.
However, it would not be a surprise if the Glasgow giants struggle to retain Igamane’s services beyond the summer, especially if Everton and Tottenham are still interested.
If he continues performing like he is now, he could easily become one of Rangers’ biggest transfer sales.
Igamane has bagged 13 goals and three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions for Philippe Clement’s side this season.
The fact that he has established himself as such a key player for the Ibrox outfit after starting the season as an understudy to Cyriel Dessers is remarkable.
