Cyriel Dessers exit: Monday sprint ready for Rangers transfer

Rangers star Cyriel Dessers could still leave Ibrox with a Monday sprint for his signature on the cards, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reports in its print edition (page 22, 29 January) that Cagliari and Verona are ready to step up their pursuits of the Nigerian attacker.

It states Verona will decide on whether to make a move for the 30-year-old or alternative targets on 3 February with the deadline hours away.

The Nigeria international has been linked with an exit from the Govan club since the winter window opened but nothing has materialised yet.

Dessers has handled the situation with professionalism, still giving his all when he has featured for the Light Blues.

He scored a hat-trick in the Scottish Cup clash with Fraserburgh and notched against Aberdeen, Manchester United and Dundee United to take his tally to six goals in his last four appearances.

A potential deadline-day deal would be complicated given the fact that the Gers would have little time to secure a new attacker.

He has spoken of his desire to play regular first-team football after falling down the pecking order with Hamza Igamane and Danilo preferred by Philippe Clement.

However, unless there is a major development in the next few days, the veteran could well remain at Ibrox for the rest of the season and move on in the summer if his playing time does not improve.
