Clement ‘to make shock change’ – Rangers predicted XI v Union SG after update

Philippe Clement may be boosted by the return of John Souttar to the Rangers squad ahead of the Europa League clash against Union SG on Thursday.

Rangers are geared up to host the Belgians at Ibrox on 30 January and Clement may be provided with a huge boost ahead of the clash after Auchenhowie updates.

Souttar, who has been absent since sustaining an injury against Tottenham, was spotted in training ahead of the game [Rangers Review] and was slyly mooted by Clement in his latest press conference.

As quoted on the Rangers X account [29 January], Clement said: “Some guys were back in training, and some doing individual work. I don’t want to give this info all away ahead of a decisive game.”

John Souttar may be set for Rangers return v Union SG

Clement could now make three changes to his Rangers side that secured victory against Dundee United last time out with two of them arriving defensively.

Jack Butland will almost undoubtedly remain between the sticks for the Light Blues with two changes coming in front of him.

Jefte and James Tavernier should retain their place in the side but Souttar could return to the starting lineup in place of Robin Propper.

His seemingly imminent return will provide a much-needed boost to the Gers and he could be partnered by Leon King, who may be handed a rare start to rest others.

Mohamed Diomande, off the back of the rescinded red card, is set to start in midfield alongside Nico Raskin, in what has been a brilliant partnership.

Nedim Bajrami is likely to occupy the left flank with Ianis Hagi not registered while Ross McCausland could be handed his first start since October on the opposite wing.

Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane could spearhead the attack, with the pair likely to rotate positionally throughout the encounter.

Three points will guarantee progression in the Europa League, and may even take the Bears through to the final 16 automatically if other results go their way.
