Rangers transfer round-up: Shankland claim emerges amid Sky Sports denial
Rangers now have just six days to complete their winter transfer business as Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen work behind the scenes to bolster the squad.
Some activity has taken place at Ibrox but a limited amount compared to what Gers fans will anticipate, though the domino effect that takes over in the final days of each window often sees the pace of business ramp up.
So far, only Lille’s Rafael Fernandes has been brought in on a loan deal from the Ligue 1 outfit, while Kieran Dowell recently became the fourth player to depart this month, joining Alex Lowry, Robbie Fraser and Cole McKinnon through the exit door.

Dessers transfer fee predicted to skyrocket after Rangers goals
Cyriel Dessers will command a much higher transfer fee to leave Rangers within the coming days, Mark Guidi has projected.
Guidi told the Go Radio Football Show (27 January) that Dessers’ recent goals in back-to-back games against Manchester United and Dundee United have excelled his view in the shop window.
Rangers remain eager to sell Dessers to recoup funds, and the 30-year-old is wanted by several clubs in Europe including in Serie A.
Barry Ferguson urges Rangers to revisit Shankland transfer
Rangers were heavily linked with a bid to sign Hearts ace Lawrence Shankland last summer and Barry Ferguson has urged the Light Blues to go in again for the Scotland striker once his contract expires.
Shankland is in line to leave Tynecastle on a free transfer in the summer, and Ferguson (28 January) described taking advantage of a potential deal for nothing as a “no-brainer” while on the Go Radio Football Show (28 January).
The 29-year-old has only scored three times so far this season following 59 in the two combined seasons previously, but Ferguson is still sure he would be a quality addition.

Jefte to Chelsea rumours build
Keith Jackson says it would be possible Rangers could agree to sell Jefte just a year after signing the Brazilian if Chelsea make an approach.
Chris Jack reported (27 January) that Chelsea could bide their time and are leading the race to sign the 21-year-old in the summer.
Jackson believes the Gers “probably would” decide to turn over a quick profit on the left-sided player given the chance, who became the first summer signing following the 2023-24 season at Ibrox.
Hagi has not yet signed new deal
Sky Sports have denied that Ianis Hagi has been offered a new deal at Rangers (28 January), contrary to reports.
The Romanian attacking midfielder ended a hiatus earlier this campaign and returned to the squad to surpass 100 appearances at Ibrox, following a major wage dispute should he have gone beyond his 99th game.
David Edgar (27 January) reported that Rangers had proposed a new contract to Hagi, but Sky have moved to deny the news (28 January).
In other Rangers news, attention turns to the league phase finale in the Europa League on Thursday as Union Saint-Gilloise visit Ibrox.
