Rangers done deal? David Edgar shares update on Lyall Cameron transfer rumour

David Edgar has suggested a Rangers deal for Lyall Cameron is yet to be official.

The Gers have held talks with the 22-year-old’s camp over a deal to bring the midfielder to Ibrox in the summer [Scott Burns].

The Light Blues have shown an interest in the Dundee man all winter and one fan on X (28 January) appeared to think a transfer was complete.

They said: “Being told the Lyle Cameron deal is done. True?”

Edgar is yet to hear any confirmation, as he replied: “Nothing official yet.”

Rangers yet to confirm Lyall Cameron deal

There is no doubt that Philippe Clement’s side wants to bring the versatile midfielder to Govan, either this winter or even in the summer.

The Gers will be hopeful of fighting off interest from Aberdeen who are also said to have held talks with the Scotland under-21 international’s representatives [Anthony Joseph].

If the Dons can be beaten to the signing of Cameron, it will represent a real coup for the Light Blues and prove a point to the rest of the Scottish Premiership.

One thing that Patrick Stewart and Co. need to do after taking over in the boardroom at Ibrox is bring the best of the rest from the league to G51.

This started with Connor Barron in the summer and could now continue with Cameron in the winter.

This could prove to be a step in the right direction to be able to compete with Celtic on a more regular basis after years without doing so.
