Clement to hand out rare start in two changes – Rangers predicted XI v USG

Philippe Clement could make two changes to his starting lineup as Rangers face Union Saint-Gilloise at Ibrox in the Europa League.

The Belgian will likely rely on Jack Butland once again in goal but will have to make changes to his backline due to several injury issues and Clinton Nsiala’s unavailability.

Leon King could potentially be handed a rare start at Ibrox on Thursday (30 January) as the Gers look to secure a place in the top eight of the table.

James Tavernier, Robin Propper and Jefte should keep their places in the starting 11 after the 3-1 win over Dundee United at Tannadice Park on Sunday (26 January).

Mohamed Diomande picked up a red card towards the end of the game, but that will not affect his availability on Thursday (30 January), and the Ivorian ace will likely partner Nicolas Raskin once again.

Cyriel Dessers to keep his place in Rangers v Union Saint-Gilloise

Changes will be needed on the wings as Ianis Hagi has not been included in the Europa League squad, with Ross McCausland evidently best placed to take the spot on the ring-hand side of the attack as it remains to be seen whether Vaclav Cerny will be fit enough.

Nedim Bajrami should continue on the left despite his poor performance at Tannadice Park.

Cyriel Dessers was the hero for Rangers after scoring the third goal against the Tangerines, and his recent form will seemingly lead to Clement relying on him to play behind Hamza Igamane once again.

The Nigerian scored at Old Trafford as Manchester United beat the Light Blues 2-1 with a stoppage-time winner from Bruno Fernandes on 23 January.

While the Gers control their own destiny, they can’t take Union Saint-Gilloise lightly as they are unbeaten in their last 11 league fixtures.
