Rangers news: Major Ianis Hagi exit twist emerges

Rangers have offered a contract to Ianis Hagi, along with Findlay Curtis and Zak Lovelace, according to David Edgar.

The Heart and Hand podcast host claimed on 27 January that the decision on whether or not they want to stay is on the players, with Curtis understood to be close to penning a three-year deal. [Scott Burns, 27 January]

It remains to be seen what Hagi decides as he told his agents that he wanted to leave Ibrox in the summer. [Pescurt, 25 January]

Edgar wrote on X: “Rangers have offered new deals to Ianis Hagi, Findlay Curtis and Zak Lovelace. Down to the players now.”

Ianis Hagi is unlikely to decide on his Rangers contract any time soon

Given Hagi’s recent months-long contractual standoff with the Ibrox hierarchy, it’s understandable if he is hesitating over making a decision regarding the new contract offer.

The uncertainty at the club, compounded by their dismal performance this season, adds to the complexity of his choice.

With Philippe Clement’s future also in question due to the team’s poor results, the stability and direction of the club are currently in flux, which might make the Romanian cautious about committing his future.

His previous indication to his agents about wanting to leave in the summer further suggests his indecision.

As such, the 26-year-old is likely to take more time to evaluate his options, considering not only his career trajectory but also the environment at the club.

This period of reflection is crucial for him to make an informed decision that aligns with his professional aspirations, especially given the current unsettled atmosphere within Gers.
