Miller baffled by what Nick Walsh did in first half of Rangers game v Dundee Utd
Willie Miller has been left baffled by referee Nick Walsh after he didn’t show a yellow card to Luca Stephenson after his late challenge on Rangers ace Mohamed Diomande.
The midfielder managed to take the Ivorian out after he went in for a late challenge with Walsh opting against showing him a yellow card despite how obviously late the Englishman’s tackle was.
Speaking live on BBC Radio Scotland (26 January), BBC pundit Miller shared his thoughts on Stephenson’s tackle.
“It’s interesting because there’s no doubt that Stevenson’s challenge on Diomande was late,” Miller said.
“It took the Rangers player out and I know it’s early in the game and we always used to say get your tackles in early even a mistimed one.
“But I’m surprised it was just a word of warning, I thought he maybe deserved a yellow card.”
Rangers went on to win the game 3-1 at Tannadice.
Rangers need to be better in their future Scottish Premiership games
The game between Rangers and Dundee United was a fairly end-to-end one which likely came as a surprise to many.
While Jim Goodwin’s men sit third in the Scottish Premiership table just behind the Ibrox outfit, it feels like they should have been able to put the game to bed in the early stages, especially if they want to prove their worth to fans.
The 2024/25 season has been a less than memorable one for fans of the Glasgow-based outfit with their gap to first-placed Celtic only seeming to increase week after week.
Due to the significant gap between the two teams, it feels like some changes need to be implemented at Ibrox in order for Clement’s men to gear themselves up for a better fight next term.
Only time will tell what the future holds but if Rangers don’t buck their ideas up soon, things could go from bad to worse.
