Rangers star stuns Miller with what he did v Dundee United – ‘Fabulous’

Mohamed Diomande left BBC Scotland pundit Willie Miller stunned after his “fabulous” strike to get Rangers level against Dundee United on Sunday.

The midfielder was passed the ball on the edge of United’s box, managed to wriggle his way around a few opposing players and let off an inch-perfect strike to pull Philippe Clement’s men level.

Speaking live on BBC Radio Scotland (26 January), Miller shared his thoughts on the Ivorian’s strike, which contributed to a 3-1 win at Tannadice.

“It’s a fabulous strike from Diomande. Walton can’t see that ball coming. I don’t think it’s far away from him, he does make an effort,” Miller said.

“[That’s] out of nowhere and probably their first real effort at goal.”

Mohamed Diomande has really come into his own at Rangers this season

After Diomande’s deal was made permanent at the start of the summer transfer window, fans were rightfully excited after the campaign he had last time out.

However, now that we’re over halfway into the season, it feels like the Gers’ fans have managed to get a lot more than what they expected from the Ivorian with him now becoming a key cog in Clement’s set-up.

While plenty of things haven’t gone the Gers’ way this term, it feels like securing the services of Diomande could have been a stroke of genius from the Ibrox outfit.

The form of the Gers’ midfield does, however, beg the question of why they’re looking at Lyall Cameron so intently.

They already have three more than solid options in the centre of the park and even though four players of the same quality would be ideal, it feels like it would be difficult to keep each of them happy which begs the question of whether they actually need to sign the Dundee man.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement could look “weak” if he now drops Jack Butland for Liam Kelly.
