Dundee Utd v Rangers postponement update: Met Office issue new Sunday warning

Dundee United’s home clash against Rangers faces the risk of being postponed after the latest Met Office update.

The Met Office has issued [26 January] a yellow weather warning ahead of the Gers’ trip to Tannadice Park on 26 January, with the risk of snow and ice threatening the game from kicking off.

This comes after Celtic were forced to postpone their home clash against Dundee due to damage at Celtic Park, with Storm Eowyn causing chaos across the United Kingdom.

Dundee United v Rangers at risk after weather warning

With Gers supporters getting ready for the hour-long trip to Dundee, the new weather warning has come at just the right time, allowing fans to decide on whether travelling is a good idea.

Philippe Clement and his side, of course, would love the support at Tannadice Park, but being stranded in Dundee after the Scottish Premiership game is not the ideal scenario for the fans.

The Hoops’ clash against Dundee being called off has given the Light Blues a great chance to put some pressure on the league leaders, but that will all be undone if their game is also postponed.

While sport is integral, the well-being and safety of the supporters should be the No.1 concern ahead of Sunday’s fixture, which could see the SPFL make the decision for the clubs instead.

The Gers were already faced with a weather warning for their trip down to Manchester for a Europa League tie, and supporters were advised to stay another night due to red warnings in Scotland.

This situation is a lot more straightforward, though, with Dundee much closer than Old Trafford, but fans could still be wasting much of their weekend and hard-earned money if the game is called off closer to kick-off.

Supporters would be far more forgiving if a decision were made before setting off from their heated homes.

In other Rangers news, the current transfer model at Ibrox is absolutely disgraceful as £10million news emerges at Celtic.
