Bajrami invisible, Diomande wows – Rangers playing ratings v Dundee United

Philippe Clement will be relieved to walk away with all three points as Rangers beat Dundee United 3-1 on Sunday.

The Gers got off to the worst possible start as Sam Dalby fired past Jack Butland after just 19 minutes, only for Mohamed Diomande to cancel it out with a rocket from outside the penalty area.

Robin Propper finally gained hero status after burying a shot just four minutes into the second half before Cyriel Dessers made one of his chances count moments from full-time with an incredible strike past Jack Walton.

Ibrox News ranked each player’s performance out of 10.

Jack Butland – 7

Made some key saves to deny United after Dalby’s opener, frustrating the majority of the crowd at Tannadice Park. Certainly got his mojo back after a dreadful display in midweek.

James Tavernier – 7

Picked up a controversial yellow card after barging into Glenn Middleton, grabbed his second assist in as many games, and created multiple chances while bombing into the United penalty area. He was everywhere.

Clinton Nsiala – 6

Assured display from the young Frenchman, really coming into his own since being called up from the Rangers B team. Leon Balogun’s absence is not as serious thanks to him.

Robin Propper – 6

Propper’s defending for Dalby’s opening goal was pathetic, falling to the floor after being bullied but he more than made up for his failures by taking the lead early in the second half.

Jefte – 5

Created chances throughout the game for the forward line but one moment of miscommunication at the back meant an unneeded corner was given away, allowing United to take the lead.

Mohamed Diomade – 8

Scored a vital goal to get the Light Blues back into the clash at Tannadice Park, netting with his 20th attempt from outside the box in the league this season [Joshua Barrie]. Sent off controversially in the closing stages.

Nico Raskin – 6

Totally outshone by the midfielder next to him, much sloppier in possession of the ball, and lost too many battles in the middle of the park, allowing the Tangerines to build confidence.

Ianis Hagi (Off for Zak Lovelace 85′) – 7

Grabbed the assist for Propper’s goal, always offering a threat against United and causing havoc down the right flank. Remained consistent with his defensive duties too.

Nedim Bajrami (Off for Paul Nsio 89′) – 3

Almost invisible for the entire first half, only coming to life just before the half-time whistle. Was articulate and accurate with what he wanted to do, but would often turn back or take the easy pass. Needed far more from the former Sassuolo man.

Cyriel Dessers – 7

Linked up really well with Igamane, with both strikers starting at Tannadice Park. Missed multiple chances to put the game to bed before firing home an incredible effort with just four minutes to go.

Hamza Igamane – 6

One of his quieter performances since arriving at Ibrox, having a much smaller impact on the game in a deeper role, forcing him to shoot from long range. Frustrating. Grew into the game but was certainly not himself.

Substitutions

Zak Lovelace (On for Hagi 85′) – 7

Instant impact after coming on to assist Dessers’ thunderous striker, just one minute after replacing Hagi.

Paul Nsio (On for Bajrami 89′) – N/A
