Rabbi Matondo exit: New approach made to seal Rangers transfer
Rabbi Matondo could still leave Rangers before 3 February after Nantes made an approach over a loan deal, according to Rangers News.
The online outlet reported on 25 January that after his protracted move to Coventry City broke down this week over bonuses and add-ons, Matondo may still be on his way out of Ibrox.
Nantes, mired in the Ligue 1 relegation battle and on the verge of losing Huddersfield Town loanee Sorba Thomas, have now made an official approach to the Gers regarding Matondo.
Rabbi Matondo needs Rangers exit after Coventry setback
Regardless of whether it’s in the EFL, Ligue 1 or further afield, the Light Blues faithful won’t care where Matondo plies his trade until the summer – as long as it’s not at Ibrox.
Matondo is one of several players on the books at Auchenhowie seen as simply taking up a hefty wage without much output, and with just eight appearances and two goals this season, they’re not far wrong.

After months out due to a hamstring injury picked up in September, he’s fallen some distance down the pecking order in Govan.
Selling or loaning the 24-year-old out in the winter window therefore remains the best outcome for all parties, with seemingly only Matondo’s terms standing in the way of him finally leaving Ibrox.
Matondo will know that he’s hardly getting a look-in under Philippe Clement if he does stay put, and if it’s game-time he’s after, playing in a top-five European league with Nantes should certainly appeal to him.
In other Rangers news, teams on the continent are also lining up bids to sign another out-of-favour forward player at Ibrox.
