Philippe Clement ‘sack fears raised’ ahead of Rangers clash v Dundee United
Philippe Clement will not be able to fend off talk of being sacked as long as Rangers struggle for form on their travels, according to Derek Ferguson.
The Belgian has been under constant pressure in the Ibrox dugout this season, with the Gers sitting 13 points adrift of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.
Ahead of facing Dundee United at Tannadice – should the game indeed go ahead – Ferguson says the pressure is understandable.
“It’s on the manager. He’s got to find a way to try to improve the side away from home – it’s as clear as that,” Ferguson exclusively told Ibrox News.
“It’s not been good enough. If they’d won two or three of the away games they’ve dropped points in, they’d be right in the title mix, so that’s where the frustration comes from; that’s where the pressure on Clement comes from.
“The away form really is abysmal. When you look at the Rangers squad, they should be doing a whole lot better. The Aberdeen win recently was a good one, but Philippe Clement will only be safe in the job if results pick up away from home.“
Rangers away form not good enough under Philippe Clement
Rangers have lost just one home league match since the end of September 2023, coming against Motherwell close to a year ago.
By comparison, they have lost six, drawn six and won just four of their past 16 matches away from Ibrox – a terrible return.

That includes a run of three successive draws – against Motherwell, Hibernian and Dundee – and now a tough test at Tannadice awaits.
If the Gers are to go five away matches without a win, having lost to St Mirren at the start of that run, Clement will have yet more questions to answer.
