Jack Butland exit: Rangers goalkeeper ‘wanted man’ despite Man United shocker

Martin Allen believes Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland will still attract transfer interest after his error against Manchester United.

The former England international had a moment to forget at Old Trafford, punching the ball backwards into his own net to give the home side the lead.

Despite Cyriel Dessers netting an equaliser, Bruno Fernandes’ late winner meant that the 31-year-old’s mistake cost the Gers in the end.

Regardless of this, the former Leicester City and Brentford manager has suggested many sides would still want to sign him in the near future.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Allen said: “It was disappointing for him. He’ll have woken up very upset and disappointed with himself.

As a goalkeeper, you take that responsibility and he’s a good player, Jack Butland so we shouldn’t write him off.

Will other clubs still want him after that error? Absolutely.

One moment of madness isn’t going to change everything and many sides would still want him.

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland still has transfer suitors despite Manchester United error

The 31-year-old has proved to be an excellent signing for the Light Blues since joining on a free transfer from Crystal Palace in 2023.

With that being said, it was arguably the lowest moment of his career in Govan against the Red Devils which could result in interest in his signature falling away.

The keeper was linked with a move away in the latest summer transfer window [Daily Record] but remained at Ibrox and has shown some signs of his form from last campaign.

The error against Manchester United may prove to be a knock to his confidence but he needs to bounce back quickly or could risk his stock falling.
