Cyriel Dessers exit: Rangers in transfer whirlwind as suspense grows
Cyriel Dessers is one of several strikers being lined up by Cagliari as speculation over his future continues at Rangers, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper reports in its print edition (25 January, page 21) that Dessers is one of a “whirlwind” of names linked with a move to the Serie A side.
The Gers’ number nine and David Okereke headline the Cagliari long list, but they’ll have to sell before they can buy.
Cagliari’s interest in Dessers among others has created great suspense among their fans already ahead of the February 3 deadline.
Cyriel Dessers transfer could still be on the cards at Rangers
Dessers’ long-term future at Ibrox remains in doubt despite his goal against Manchester United in their Europa League defeat on Thursday, with the 30-year-old currently third-choice in the pecking order.
Sending the Old Trafford away end into raptures – for all of four minutes – was a timely reminder of the impact that an in-form Dessers can have in light blue, but those moments have been hard to come by.

With the Nigerian’s build-up play non-existent at times and his finishing much more erratic than it is prolific, many Gers fans have made their minds up about Dessers not being the answer long-term.
That could well prove to be the case given the emergence of 22-year-old Hamza Igamane this season and the much younger Danilo also ahead of him when it comes to options available to Philippe Clement.
Should Cagliari pursue a transfer which meets the Bears’ valuation, they’ll be encouraged to accept it, and with their problems still to solve in this window, bringing in a decent fee will be paramount.
In other Rangers news, David Edgar reacted as an Ibrox academy product sealed his permanent exit away from the club.
