Andy Walker blown away by ‘world-class’ Rangers moment v Manchester United

Cyriel Dessers blew Andy Walker away with his goal for Rangers against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Dessers’ equalising goal towards the end was the highlight for the Light Blues as they heartbreakingly suffered a late 2-1 defeat against the Red Devils in the UEFA Europa League on 23 January.

The goal, though, was “world-class” according to Walker, who was amazed by the watch in which the centre-forward got the better of Harry Maguire and found the back of the net.

“Oh, jeez! Honestly, I thought it was world-class”, Walker said on The Go Radio Football Show (24 January).

“To take that ball away from Harry Maguire, the touch was so good.

“Then, the quick three or four steps he made before hitting it with his left foot was absolutely magnificent.”

Cyriel Dessers shines in Manchester United v Rangers

Dessers’ performances for Rangers this season have left much to be desired, but the goal against Manchester United was truly a highlight.

It was cruel to see Philippe Clement’s side then lose to a late Bruno Fernandes goal in Manchester.

Nevertheless, the Nigeria international can take pride in silencing the Manchester United faithful at Old Trafford – a feat his teammates will likely be envious of.

That is not to say Dessers will still be at Ibrox when the winter transfer window closes on 3 February.

It is worth noting that Rangers forked out £4.5million to sign Dessers from Cremonese in 2023 [Daily Mail].

It remains to be seen how much they wish to pocket from his sale now.
