Rangers transfer round-up: Ridvan Yilmaz meeting, plus Ibrox exit falls through

Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen are running out of time to make changes to the Rangers squad before the transfer window shuts.

Only Lille defender Rafael Fernandes has entered Ibrox since the winter window opened, though Alex Lowry has now completed a permanent move to League One side Wycombe Wanderers.

With Robbie Fraser’s six-month loan to Livingston the only other activity for the Scottish giants, supporters are becoming restless at the lack of signings this month.

Leeds United want Archie Stevens

Youngster Archie Stevens is likely to depart Ibrox in the summer after failing to agree a new contract, as per Rangers News, but could be sent out on loan in the current window.

Having attracted interest from all over England – Premier League and Championship clubs – Leeds United are long-time admirers of the forward and could join the race for his signature.

Joe Aribo return on the cards?

The Daily Mail has ruled out a surprise return to Ibrox for midfielder Joe Aribo, who is currently plying his trade with Premier League strugglers, Southampton, near the bottom of the table.

Being paid £70,000 a week, the Nigerian international will not be expecting to make anything less, which suggests a move back to Scotland is not on the cards, with the Gers trying to drive down the wage bill.

Rabbi Matondo’s Ibrox exit falls through

The Welshman was closing in on a move to Championship side Coventry City until “stumbling blocks” appeared between the parties. It is understood there was a disagreement involving bonuses [Sky Sports].

Matondo has made just six Scottish Premiership appearances for the Light Blues this season, struggling with injuries ever since arriving in Scotland in July 2022.

Rangers want transfer as Ridvan Yilmaz meeting held

The Gers are willing to sell Ridvan Yilmaz during the winter transfer window, as per Mustafa Korkusuz, with discussions already being held by Besiktas over a potential move for the left-back.

Turkish clubs have until 11 February to complete transfers, which means Philippe Clement could be left one player down after the UK transfer window closes should a deal be reached.

In other Rangers news, the transfer model at Ibrox is absolutely disgraceful after £10million news emerging from Celtic.
