Parlour reacts after Brazil drops honest Rangers verdict after Man United loss
Alan Brazil believes Rangers didn’t “embarrass” themselves against Manchester United despite their 2-1 defeat on Thursday.
The Gers thought they’d nicked themselves an equaliser as Cyriel Dessers bagged himself a sublime goal in the 88th minute but, in the end, Bruno Fernandes’ finish was too good to keep out.
Philippe Clement’s men now sit 13th in the table and are just three points adrift of eighth place.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (24 January, 06:20am), Ray Parlour and Brazil shared their thoughts on the performance of the Ibrox outfit.
“Listen, we can have a go at Man United saying that it’s the worst Man United side etc but Rangers played alright didn’t they, let’s be fair, they had a go,” Brazil said.
To which Parlour replied: “It’s the sort of game where they up their game against Celtic didn’t they and they upped their game against United last night.”
Brazil then added: “I thought they nicked a draw, great touch, bang, finish but look I think it’s more clinical the Premier League than the Scottish Premiership and they didn’t embarrass themselves, put it that way.”
Rangers cannot let the defeat against Manchester United get them down
The 2024/25 season has been one that Rangers fans would likely want to forget as soon as possible.
They currently find themselves 13 points adrift of first-placed Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and were even defeated in the Scottish League Cup final after penalties despite putting in a more than decent effort against their arch-rivals.
Fans may be a bit down-beat as they thought they could have earned themselves a point from their game against the Red Devils but in reality, the gulf in things such as finances gives the Gers some slack.
At the moment, it doesn’t look likely that Clement’s men will make it back into the top eight places in the Europa League table but if they can beat Union Saint-Gilloise next week and other results go their way, anything is possible.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Rangers but if they can get over this defeat, they could find themselves at a turning point in their season.
