Mark Goldbridge left spitting feathers at ‘Shocking’ Man Utd v Rangers incident
Mark Goldbridge was left spitting feathers after Harry Maguire’s “shocking” mistake for Manchester United led to Rangers scoring a late goal that ultimately counted for little in the Europa League clash.
The Light Blues visited Old Trafford on Thursday (23 January) but failed to get the result they hoped for, losing 2-1 in extra-time after Bruno Fernandes’ last-gasp winner.
The Gers did get themselves back into the game and looked as though they would come away with a point when Cyriel Dessers scored in the 88th minute.
Watching the game on a live stream on The United Stand (23 January, 2:24:04) Goldbridge hit out at the equaliser as he said: “I tell you what, we don’t deserve that.
“Look, I was finding it very difficult to deal with that equaliser because I don’t want to go in on Harry Maguire because he’s been good for us recently but it’s a shocking mistake and it really did shock me.
“But we deserve to win this.”
Rangers suffer narrow loss at Manchester United
Despite a good effort from the Gers throughout the game, a devastating 92nd-minute goal for the Red Devils meant that Philippe Clement’s side were unable to come away with anything from the game.
Although Maguire certainly should have done better when the ball landed with Dessers, the goal was very well done by the Light Blues with a lovely finish from the 30-year-old which he deserves credit for.

It’s no surprise to hear Goldbridge decide that his team deserved the victory but that doesn’t seem like the fairest reflection of the game given how well the Scottish Premiership side did on the evening.
Clement’s side will have been gutted to lose the game in the way that they did. However, their Europa League hopes are not over yet and it’s now time for the Gers to look forward and deliver with a game against Union Saint-Gilloise coming on Thursday (30 January).
In other Rangers news, this Light Blues ace is likely to quit Ibrox in the summer with an English club already lurking.
