Man United fans trolled by Rangers chant inside Old Trafford – BBC reporter
Rangers supporters were heard taunting the Manchester United fanbase during their Europa League clash, according to BBC Scotland reporter Kheredine Idessane.
As reported via BBC Sport [23 January, 8:47pm], Rangers supporters aimed a chant at the Manchester United fans with a dig towards their poor home support just before the half-time interval.
Frustrations were growing at Old Trafford after the Red Devils had a goal ruled out, with the away supporters enjoying themselves by taunting the United faithful.
On the chants heard, Idessane said: “Rangers fans on the troll. They’ve sung and chanted loudly throughout the entire half.
“The Rangers fans now feel it’s time to wind up the home fans, taunting them with a suggestion that they’re not a very good home support. The away fans are loving their night in Manchester so far.”
Rangers can take pride from Old Trafford showing
Despite the 2-1 defeat, there were plenty of promising signs for the Light Blues who should have arguably found themselves 2-0 up in the first half.
Nico Raskin and Ridvan Yilmaz both had excellent opportunities to open the scoring but failed to take their chances with a second-half Jack Butland howler undoing all of the good work done by the Gers.
A failure to take their chances was showcased yet again with a distinct lack of quality in the final third on show for large parts of the game – a verdict that has been shared on far too many occasions this season, with Hamza Igamane being the only regular reliable source of goals.

If Philippe Clement’s side can replicate that performance while showing a higher level of ruthlessness in the final third, results will come.
The Gers can take plenty of heart from their performance, as can the Rangers faithful who were heard backing their team loud and clear, even after going 1-0 down.
