Clement axes Yilmaz in four changes – Rangers predicted XI v Dundee United

Philippe Clement could axe Ridvan Yilmaz from his side when Rangers head to Dundee United this weekend.

The Gers head north having suffered late heartache against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Thursday night (23 January), with Clement also having to deal with several player withdrawals from injuries.

Vaclav Cerny, Leon Balogun and Connor Barron will all miss out at Tannadice, with Clement potentially tempted to pull Nedim Bejrami out to the left, bring Ianis Hagi back in after his European ineligibility, and drop Yilmaz to the bench.

Clinton Nsiala is also available to return, with Ross McCausland and Mohamed Diomande in contention to start.

Clement to make enforced Rangers changes v Dundee United

Whether precautionary or longer-term, Clement has some shifting to do with his starting XI off the back of the Old Trafford clash.

Jack Butland will start in goal despite his mistake against former club United, while Nsiala could gain valuable experience once again alongside Robin Propper, James Tavernier and Jefte.

Diomande is likely to slot in for Barron alongside Nico Raskin who played the full game in Manchester, while McCausland has a chance to impress if he comes in for Cerny, of whom the loss is a considerable blow.

Hamza Igamane will start up top and spearhead the attack despite Cyriel Dessers’ impact off the bench on Thursday with what was a fantastically taken goal, and Hagi will return from his European absence in behind as Bajrami could be moved out wide.

Alternatively, it cannot be ruled out that Clement opts to give some young charges more game time, with several having recently impressed given their opportunities.

The Light Blues are marooned in second in the Scottish Championship with Dundee United just one place but 10 points behind.
