Rangers transfers: Sky Sports share new Rabbi Matondo to Coventry update
Rabbi Matondo’s loan move from Rangers to Coventry City has now completely broken down, according to Sky Sports.
The news outlet reported via its transfer blog [23 January, 2:04pm] that negotiations have ended due to a disagreement involving bonuses.
Matondo had looked all but set to complete a loan move to the Championship outfit with an option to buy, but as per Alex Crook (23 January), the disagreement surrounding payment structure has caused the move to collapse in the final stages.
Rabbi Matondo will not leave Rangers for Coventry City
Philippe Clement has less than a fortnight left of the winter transfer window to shift his deadwood at Ibrox.
As things stand, Alex Lowry is the only notable outgoing for the Gers, but his move to Wycombe Wanderers will do nothing to boost the transfer kitty.
Unless Rangers can find suitors for the likes of Matondo and Ridvan Yilmaz, the side who trail Celtic by 13 points in the Scottish Premiership will remain untouched.
The Welshman has shown glimpses of quality at Ibrox but with only eight appearances to his name this term, it is time to move on.
Therefore, Nils Koppen is in no position to haggle over the minute details and he will have serious questions to answer for preventing this deal getting over the line.

Although the Gers would have been forced to wait until the summer before receiving a transfer fee, freeing up his wages off the books would have gone a long way in helping manoeuvre the transfer market.
Only time will tell whether Coventry will return for Matondo, but Koppen has little time left to find the forward a new home and source a suitable replacement.
