Graham Spiers rages at embarrassing footage of Rangers fans in Manchester
Graham Spiers has blasted Rangers supporters as “embarrassing” after footage emerged from Manchester on Thursday.
The Bears fans travelled en-masse for the Europa League showdown at Old Trafford on 23 January despite expected disruptions to trains as a result of Storm Eowyn.
Footage was shared of Light Blues supporters marching through the city with pyrotechnics and signing an anti-Celtic song ahead of facing Manchester United.
Spiers took to X to rage over the footage, saying: “This is 2025. How much more does Rangers FC have to do to beg its fans to stop acting like bigots?
“The utter embarrassment of this.”
Rangers fans embarrassing in Manchester?
The Ibrox club have already got into trouble with the SPFL this season for the use of pyrotechnics by supporters.
The Gers also received fines for the same issue by UEFA for use during Europa League matches against Lyon and Malmo. [BBC Sport]
Former FIFA referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Ibrox News that the governing body will be monitoring Bears supporters ahead of kick-off at Old Trafford.
If Philippe Clement’s side can secure victory in Manchester, they will take a huge step towards qualifying for an automatic place in the round of 16.
Defeat would give up to nine teams the chance to overhaul the Govan side and would likely leave them in the playoffs to progress to the next round.
The Gers need supporters to roar their team on in the stadium rather than cause issues before the contest.
