‘Wolfsburg to accept £8m Rangers bid’ for Vaclav Cerny as return blocked
Wolfsburg would sell Vaclav Cerny to Rangers for around £8million, according to Kicker.
However, the German sports magazine, reporting via their website on Wednesday (22 January), added that the Light Blues do not have the means to fork out such a sum.
The 27-year-old, though, is unlikely to return to Wolfsburg, as he “no longer” wants to play for the Bundesliga club.
Therefore, he could join a different club in the summer, with West Ham mentioned as those interested in acquiring his services.
Rangers to miss out on Vaclav Cerny, face competition from West Ham
Cerny has emerged as one of the best players at Rangers since joining them on a season-long loan from Wolfsburg in the summer.
The Czechia international has bagged 12 goals and seven assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for the Glasgow giants this season.
There is no doubt that the attacker will leave a huge void at Ibrox if the Gers do not find a way to turn his loan move into a permanent one.
The Scottish Premiership outfit would also certainly find it difficult to find a replacement for Cerny, meaning this situation is far from ideal for them.
Furthermore, Rangers would struggle to convince Cerny to stay in Govan if a club like West Ham are interested in signing him.

The lure of the Premier League may be too much for the Ibrox outfit to compete against.
For the time being, Cerny will be hopeful of continuing his fine form at Rangers and help them achieve their targets.
