Ryan Jack reacts as Rangers finalise permanent transfer
Alex Lowry’s departing statement to Rangers has been met with a message of support from Ryan Jack on social media.
Lowry posted on Instagram (21 January) with a series of photos documenting his time at Ibrox, after completing a switch to EFL League One side Wycombe Wanderers ahead of his contract expiring.
The 21-year-old through the academy system at Auchenhowie and, barring last season’s loan to Hearts, has spent his entire career with the Gers, but hasn’t made a first-team appearance since May 2023.
Jack, who left Ibrox for Esenler Erokspor in Turkey last summer, commented: “Good luck mate.”
Alex Lowry Rangers departure the best move for all parties
Just as was the case when Jack and a host of Light Blues veterans on sizeable contracts left Ibrox on free transfers last summer, the time was clearly right for Lowry’s time in Govan to come to an end.
Making just one first-team appearance for your boyhood club is the ultimate dream for any fan in the blue half of Glasgow, thus Lowry will look back on his 14 with immense pride as he heads for the EFL.

Given the last of these 14 appearances came almost two years ago, however, was a clear indication that Lowry’s future was to lie away from Ibrox, with a departure expected in the summer at the latest.
Philippe Clement has at times faced a crisis of who to pick in the number 10 role this season, but the comeback from the B Team which Ianis Hagi has benefitted from was never forthcoming for Lowry.
Possible loan moves this month had been mooted for both Lowry and fellow out-of-contract youngster Adam Devine, but the former has now secured his next destination by moving south of the border.
