Rangers transfer round-up: Former Manchester United ace offered, Matondo quits

Rangers continue to have a stable time in the market despite the winter transfer window entering its final stretch.

The Light Blues have had a quiet transfer window so far, with Rafael Fernandes’ loan signing from Lille their only acquisition so far.

It appears more players are going to leave the Glasgow giants than join between now and the deadline on 3 February, with Alex Lowry sealing his move to Wycombe Wanderers this week.

Here, Ibrox News rounds up all the transfer talk from Wednesday, 22 January.

Rangers offered former Manchester United defender

Rangers have been offered the chance to sign Timothy Fosu-Mensah on a free transfer, according to WalesOnline (21 January).

The versatile defender, who was on Manchester United’s books for seven years before joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, is without a club since leaving the Bundesliga champions last summer.

Fosu-Mensah is ready to play after training with Ajax in recent weeks, although he also has interest from several Championship clubs including Middlesbrough, Swansea City, QPR and Stoke City.

Rabbi Matondo quits

Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland were also interested in signing the winger, but the Sky Blues have emerged victorious in the race.

Cyriel Dessers and two others could leave

Apart from Matondo, three other players could leave Rangers between now and the end of the winter transfer window [Daily Record, 22 January].

Cyriel Dessers is available for a transfer, while Adam Devine and Kieran Dowell are also up for grabs.

It remains to be seen how much the Gers can raise from their sales.

Lyall Cameron talks continue

Rangers have held talks with Lyall Cameron‘s camp over a free transfer in the summer, as per Scott Burns [Daily Record, 21 January].

Cameron has been linked with a move to Ibrox during the ongoing window, but Clement’s side are unlikely to shell out money to acquire his services.
