Mohammed Diomande will miss the Europa League clash between Rangers and Manchester United on Thursday, confirms Philippe Clement

The Gers travel to Old Trafford in a return to European action on 23 January with a view to cementing a place in the top eight of the group phase.

Jack Butland is back in training but Dujon Sterling, John Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Tom Lawrence all look set to miss out through injury once again.

The Belgian will also be without midfield star Diomande against the Red Devils through suspension after picking up a yellow card against Tottenham.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on 22 January, Clement said: "We will miss some players who could start with injuries, the European list and suspension with Dio. It is about the full squad digging in together and getting results.

Rangers must make statement v Manchester United

The Gers have been so good at times in Europe this season which makes top-eight qualification a realistic goal.

This comes despite a largely disappointing campaign in the Scottish Premiership which has seen Celtic run away at the top of the table with ease.

Considering the league title is all but on its way to Parkhead, a focus on making it a memorable season in the Europa League may be smart for Clement and Co.

With that being said, the Belgian can give the Light Blues faifthul a night to remember if they can give a good account of themselves at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are in a serious rough patch of form and have won just one of their last six Premier League games under Ruben Amorim.

It could be the perfect storm for the Govan club to step in and secure a famous result at the Theatre of Dreams.
