Rangers ‘could double new multi-million windfall’ within weeks at Ibrox – Expert

Rangers could double their windfall from the Europa League within weeks, Dan Plumley has said.

The football finance expert shared that the Bears have earned just under £5million so far, but finishing in the top eight would double that figure, at least.

Rangers travel to Manchester United on 23 January and finish the group stage by welcoming Union Saint-Gilloise to Ibrox on 30 January.

The Bears currently sit eighth in the new table format, just ahead of Tottenham.

“This is just in terms of prize money, not the TV pot which will get distributed as well,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“In terms of prize money for a participation fee, they’ll have already earned £3.6m as a fee, they’ve had £1.39m in wins and draw bonuses, so we’re at just over £4.9m already.

Finishing eighth gives them access to at least another £1.77m from a league ranking bonus, and you get an extra £507,000 per club for finishing in the top eight and also you go straight into the round of 16 which is an extra £1.47m.

The total there for finishing in the top eight is £3.8m, and if we add them together for the whole group stage, finishing at least eighth would net them around £10m.

Rangers set for new multi-million windfall at Ibrox

It’s a really significant pot of money there that you can get through finishing in that top eight and they’ve already banked around half of that, so the bonus is can you double that?”

Philippe Clement will be confident heading south, with Rangers in brilliant European form and Manchester United in a bigger mess than the one at Ibrox.

The Bears drew with Tottenham last time out, but have picked up brilliant wins over OGC Nice, FCSB and Malmo already.
