Rangers meeting set ‘to terminate player deal’ at Ibrox
Feyenoord have scheduled a meeting with Rangers on Monday to discuss terminating Neraysho Kasanwirjo’s loan deal, according to Feyenoord Pings.
The Dutch news outlet reported on Sunday (19 January) that Feyenoord have reached their loan limit for the season and must recall Kasanwirjo to allow Luka Ivanusec to join Dinamo Zagreb until the end of the campaign.
Although the Gers are said to be exploring the possibility of securing a permanent move for the defender [Daily Mail], his earliest expected return date from injury is mid-March, and a return to the Netherlands is now a possibility.
Feyenoord to recall Neraysho Kasanwirjo from Rangers?
Kasanwirjo hit the ground running at Ibrox following his loan move from the Eredivisie, and he established himself as a key player in Philippe Clement’s plans this term.
However, his long-term injury has ultimately ended his season and, from a Feyenoord perspective, it makes little sense to allow the Dutchman to continue his rehabilitation in Scotland when another player has a move lined up to secure regular first-team football.
Furthermore, there is no telling whether the full-back will return from his injury the same player. Although knee injuries are not career-ending, it will take time for Kasanwirjo to return to his pre-injury form.
It is a monumental choice for Clement and Co. – there is a purchase option available in the loan deal, and his form at Ibrox suggested Rangers intended to activate the clause at the end of the season.

He has all the tools to become a long-term successor to James Tavernier at right-back, and his versatility across the backline is a trait severely lacking among the current crop at Ibrox.
Nevertheless, Feyenoord have announced their intentions and the meeting is set to take place on Monday (20 January) – soon the Gers faithful will know whether Kasanwirjo will become a permanent feature in Glasgow or whether it is time to move on.
