Propper stinks, Dessers ‘rescues himself’ – Rangers player ratings v Fraserburgh
Philippe Clement will be generally thrilled with his team’s performance as Rangers advanced in the Scottish Cup against Fraserburgh on Sunday.
Cyriel Dessers grabbed a hat-trick while Clinton Nsiala and Ross McCausland netted for the Gers in a rather convincing 5-0 win over their Highland League opponents at Ibrox on 19 January.
The Light Blues’ dominant performance allowed the likes of Findlay Curtis and Bailey Rice to gain some valuable minutes in front of the Ibrox crowd, with Clement saving energy for their upcoming game in Europe.
Ibrox News rated each player out of 10.
Mason Munn – 5
A very shaky start to the game from the 18-year-old goalkeeper, nearly gifting a goal to the visitors. Other than the mistake, he was quick off his line and put his body on the line.
James Tavernier (Off for Leon King 82′) – 7
Had chances to grab his first goal since the 3-0 win over Ross County in early December, though his biggest opportunity from a free-kick was fired straight into the wall in front of him.
Robin Propper (Off for Ridvan Yilmaz 62′) – 4
Really struggled to deal with Fraserburgh’s strength up front, losing a couple of battles to Scott Barbour and giving away too many fouls when trying to out-strength the striker.
Clinton Nsiala – 7
An incredible moment saw Nsiala score his first goal in Light Blue since arriving as a free transfer last summer, proving to be a useful prospect since coming in to alleviate the injury crisis at Ibrox.
Jefte – 6
Was always one of the first players looking to get on the end of long passes or fire a shot at goal but often miscalculated, leading to a bit of a frustrating afternoon for the left-back.
Connor Barron – 5
Little to say about Barron. Was involved in the early stages of the clash but became much quieter as the Gers continued to push for more goals in the Scottish Cup fourth round.
Mohamed Diomande (Off for Bailey Rice 62′) – 6
Has rarely put a foot wrong in recent weeks, which is exactly why Clement dragged him off on the hour mark, saving his legs for the upcoming Europa League tie against Manchester United.
Nedim Bajrami (Off for Ianis Hagi 78′) – 6
Will feel he should have seen his name on the scoreboard after sending an effort just whiskers past the far post. Played some smart passes but difficult to produce against Fraserburgh’s deep defence.

Ross McCausland – 7
Had a bright start to the game but his effect dwindled as the minutes passed, having missed out on an early chance to grab an assist thanks to Dessers’ incredible miss. Came to life once Fraserburgh tired.
Zak Lovelace (Off for Findlay Curtis 62′) – 6
Was unlucky not to register a goal contribution as Dessers and Nsiala stole the show at Ibrox, though continued pushing forward and did his future chances no harm.
Cyriel Dessers – 9
Was rightly slammed after an awful miss in the first half, totally messing up an open-goal chance to begin the scoring at Ibrox but rescued himself from further criticism with a smart hat-trick and an assist.
