Cyriel Dessers gives up at Rangers after what he told media – Keown
Rangers star Cyriel Dessers has given up at Ibrox after what he told the media, according to Gary Keown.
Writing in the print edition of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (page 97, 19 January), the journalist claimed that the Nigerian forward’s comments suggest he is ready to exit the Gers.
The 30-year-old admitted in quotes reported by the Scottish Sun (16 January) that the Light Blues may look to sell him in the winter transfer window and that he wants to play regular first-team football, whether that is in Govan or not.
Keown highlights the emergence of Hamza Igamane as a factor in the Nigerian forward’s decision, saying: “Cyriel Dessers’ quotes this week certainly give the distinct impression he senses his tea’s out thanks to Igamane’s rise.”
Rangers need to agree to Dessers exit this month
The situation between the Gers and the Nigeria international is only heading one way and that is towards an exit.
He has fallen down the pecking order under Philippe Clement despite scoring seven times in 20 league appearances this season.
The veteran has featured for a total of just 86 minutes in the last six Scottish Premiership matches, and although he did score in a one-minute cameo against Aberdeen on 15 January, his time in Govan seems to be up.

A departure makes sense for both parties as Dessers wants to be playing regularly, something that seems unlikely under the Belgian and the Gers need funds to strengthen in the winter window.
There is still yet to be significant movement but it seems like it is only a matter of time before he departs Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, one star could exit Govan on a free transfer with Clement unsure what it would take to make him stay.
