Southampton star sends message as Rangers agree terms for transfer
Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes joined ex-Premier League goalkeeper Vito Mannone in sending a message to Rafael Fernandes after he completed a move to Rangers.
Rangers confirmed the arrival of Fernandes on loan from Ligue 1 outfit Lille as the Light Blues look to improve their defensive capabilities.
Jonny Evans was tipped for a move to Ibrox but the arrival of Fernandes may subdue any further defensive concerns, with Southampton’s Fernandes joining Mannone in sending him a message upon the confirmation of his transfer.
Via a post on his Instagram account [18 January], Fernandes replied with two fire emojis followed by a love heart while Mannone said: “Rafaaaa. Good luck bro, kill it.”
Rangers still need further reinforcements
While the loan capture of Fernandes definitely subdues some of the defensive concerns at Ibrox, there are still others that need addressing if Rangers are to make anything out of this season.
The Gers have showcased a severe lack of creativity throughout the season although the recent re-emergence of Ianis Hagi will do plenty to lessen those concerns.
However, they still need more arrivals this winter and a failure to do so will undoubtedly prove detrimental to their hopes of achieving success in this campaign which are already looking weak.

Of course, those avenues of success are becoming weaker, having already suffered defeat in the Scottish League Cup while finding themselves a worrying 13 points behind Celtic in the league.
It leaves the Light Blues with the Scottish Cup and Europa Lague as their two most likely routes of success and the latter will certainly provide them with their biggest test.
In other Rangers news, Besiktas have been linked with a move for this Ibrox ace.
