Cyriel Dessers exit: Rangers ready to accept immediate transfer

Rangers are ready to accept an immediate transfer for Cyriel Dessers, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported in its print edition (pg 23, 18 January) that the Gers are willing to allow the Nigerian forward to leave Ibrox permanently in the winter transfer market.

However, it is stated that Cagliari would prefer a loan deal with an option to purchase the 30-year-old in the summer.

Dessers has featured 20 times in the Scottish Premiership this season, scoring seven times but has fallen out of favour in recent weeks.

Rangers set to sell wantaway Dessers?

Dessers has found himself below Hamza Igamane and Danilo in the pecking order at Ibrox and as a result, his minutes have been limited.

The Gers attacker has been forced to settle for just 86 minutes of action in the last six league matches but did score in a one-minute cameo against Aberdeen on Wednesday (15 January).

It makes sense for both parties if he leaves the Govan club in the winter transfer window as the player will get regular game time and the club will get a decent fee that they can use to rebuild the playing squad.

Clement desperately needs additions as the Bears try to limit the damage with arch-rivals Celtic having a 13-point gap at the top of the league.

The Nigerian is attracting interest from Spain and Italy and it makes sense to allow him to depart given his fall from grace this campaign.

There is still yet to be significant movement but with the window coming to a close in just over two weeks, it remains one to watch.

In other Rangers news, the Bears have identified a new defensive target and could be set to make a move.
