Rangers ready for loan exits after internal meeting at Ibrox
Rangers will prioritise academy stars leaving on loan over playing for the B team, according to The Rangers Review.
The Light Blues insider reported on 17 January that the Ibrox hierarchy held an internal meeting to change the function of the B team to bridge the gap from the academy to the first team.
This will see temporary switches elsewhere prioritised ahead of reserve games in “a best-vs-best programme” in Govan.
Robbie Fraser and Cole McKinnon have already headed out on loan with more departures possible for Alex Lowry and Adam Devine before the end of the window.
Rangers to loan academy talents after Ibrox meeting
There has been a need for young talent that has been nurtured by the Gers to have a positive impact on the first team picture.
This hasn’t been the case for many years with Ross McCausland being the only true academy product to become a regular under Philippe Clement.
With Patrick Stewart coming in to take charge at Ibrox, there has to be a change to the setup which can see young players forge their own path.
It is fair to say that the first step to making this possible is finding suitable loan deals for youngsters to allow them to improve while playing men’s football.

With the likes of Fraser and McKinnon going out for the rest of the season there is every chance that they can return to become regulars next campaign.
This would certainly impress the supporters in Govan who have wanted a homegrown talent to get behind for many years.
