Rangers chief rages over ‘horrendous’ thing he’s noticed about Clement
Rangers chairman Fraser Thornton has slammed the Gers’ away form under Philippe Clement.
The Light Blues have won just three games on the road while failing to pick up three points in eight games, picking up 16 points less away than Celtic.
By comparison, the home form has been much better, going unbeaten across 12 games but ultimately the away form has been detrimental to the Govan club’s season.
In reaction to this, the Daily Record has shared (17 January) a speech from the Ibrox chairman Thornton which slammed Clement’s form ahead of the win over Aberdeen on Wednesday (15 January).
He said: “Of course, we all know that results have been simply nowhere near good enough. It’s undeniable and well-understood. I have to say home has been okay but away is horrendous.
“Honestly, the easy thing to do would be just to say ‘Let’s change the manager and move on’.
“But you know if you really sit back and reflect on it a little bit and you say it’s actually season upon season upon season that the results haven’t been good enough.
“It’s 10 years. It’s not even one or two years. It’s ten. It’s a decade of underperformance that we’ve got.”
Rangers chief Fraser Thornton rages over Philippe Clement form
There is no doubt that the Belgian head coach is under pressure at Ibrox after what has been a terrible season in the Scottish Premiership.
Many supporters have urged the Light Blues hierarchy to pull the sack trigger and bring in a new manager but that hasn’t been the case.
Whether that has been due to the home form in the league or the positive performances in the Europa League, the ex-Monaco boss remains in the Govan dugout.
It appears that he maintains the backing of Thornton regardless of the “horrendous” away form that the Light Blues have showcased this campaign.

There is very little to say about the Gers on the road with defeats against St Mirren, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock being particular low points.
It feels like Clement needs to turn things around away from Ibrox if he wants to keep his job but the chairman’s comments point towards his job being safe for now.
In other Rangers news, Keith Jackson has mooted an Ibrox exit already for one star with a £10m summer move put forward.
