Rafael Fernandes follows Rangers player on Instagram amid Ibrox transfer links
Rafael Fernandes has started following Rangers ace Leon King on social media amid links with a move to Ibrox.
The Scottish Sun reported [17 January] that the Gers were in talks to sign the 22-year-old Lille defender on loan this month, with the player keen on the switch to Scotland.
While the centre-back would not be available to face Manchester United in the Europa League [Scottish Sun], the Light Blues are closing in on a move for their new signing in an attempt to alleviate the current injury crisis.
Now, the Portugal Under-21s international has been spotted following his potential future teammate on Instagram.
Rafael Fernandes signing imminent at Rangers?
Philippe Clement has been without Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, John Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Leon Balogun and James Tavernier, though some returned for the 3-0 win over Aberdeen.
Of course, the number of injuries cannot be used as an excuse for Clement and his side’s extremely poor run of form, which has left them 16 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.
However, the signing of Fernandes would certainly alleviate some of the pressure on the backline and add quite an exciting figure to the squad, though he is another young and inexperienced option.
Since signing from Arouca in January 2024, the 22-year-old has not played a single senior game for Lille, only playing five times for the B team over the last few months.

Despite this, the Gers look to be closing in on their first deal of the winter transfer window, and while the player is already following King on social media, he might not get to play alongside him this season.
Clement and Nils Koppen are planning a loan spell for the 21-year-old [Rangers News], though it remains to be seen where the academy graduate will be heading before the window slams shut.
In other Rangers news, Hamza Igamane has already been tipped for an Ibrox exit as a Kieran Dowell exit twist emerges.
